ITV Writer's Chat of Friday, July 9 at 1:00 pm

[2021-07-09]
[Engleză]
Dear Friends,

Inside the Vatican magazine invites you to join us tomorrow, Friday, July 9th at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time as we chat with Shroud of Turin Expert James Bertrand.

The conversation may touch upon a fascinating tradition: That the Shroud of Turin was used by the first followers of Jesus as an altar cloth during the celebration of the Eucharist.

"I spoke in person with Dr. John Jackson in Colorado Springs last week and he shared with me a fascinating concept about the Shroud being used as an altar cloth by the Apostles after the Resurrection," Jim Bertrand emailed me earlier this morning. "The Russian Orthodox Church has preserved this tradition to this day. What better way to account for the fact that the linen corporal at Mass is a most ancient practice which is found in virtually every Catholic and Orthodox Rite."

So please join us for this fascinating discussion.

Jim Bertrand is a certified presenter of the American Confraternity of the Holy Shroud, based out of Colorado Springs, CO. He began teaching high school science in 1981, obtained his Master’s Degree in Education in 1987, and taught high school science for 39 years. He is now retired, working full time giving presentations on the Shroud of Turin. He and his wife have been married for 36 years and have 6 children and reside in the Diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Mr. Bertrand donates his time to spread the word about the Shroud of Turin. In the past six years, he has presented on the Shroud over 200 times across 12 states, in 18 dioceses. The presentation has been seen by over 18,000 people, including those at the Eucharistic Convention of 2016 in Auckland New Zealand.

You are invited! Join us this Friday, July 9th, as we chat with Mr. James Bertrand, an expert on the Shroud of Turin. We will discuss his recent article in our May/June issue and how the Shroud is related to the Holy Fire.
